QPR Vs Watford FA Cup 16 February Review

Watford secured a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a goal by Etienne Capoue on the stroke of half time ensured them a place in the last eight for the second time in four seasons.

QPR started on the front foot having gone close through Massimo Luongo and a Tom Cleverley mishit but Watford got the only goal of the match via their only shot on target.

Watford had a good match having had to dig deep on their way to another clean sheet. Indeed, they have not conceded any goal in this season’s competition. However, it could be said that the Premier League side were only lucky not to come off the first 45 minutes with a goal or a couple more behind.

Daryl Janmaat pulled a first-time attempt over the bar just minutes before Capoue struck. That strike came after Cleverley mis-hit a cross failing to put his side ahead.

Watford under the reins of Garcia have continued to impress after keeping six clean sheets in their last eight league and cup games and holding tight to eighth position in the Premier League.

QPR were pretty much unlucky after their goal was wrongly ruled out in the 87th-minute with the competition lacking VAR consultations.

Watford gaffer, Javi Garcia on the match said:

“We knew Premier League teams have been knocked out against teams from other leagues so we knew this would be a demanding game

“Our fans are enjoying the season not only with the FA Cup but with the league as well. They can see the team is giving everything and the results are coming.”

This loss has compounded the woes of QPR who have now lost six of their last eight games in all competitions after a run of six games unbeaten directly before that.

QPR 0-1 Watford it ended
