Rashford Helps United To Another Win Over Chelsea

Manchester United seem to be gaining their identity once again. For tight and absorbing duels of this nature, every team needs that player who could produce special moments and Marcus Rashford fit exactly into that narrative for the night.

The Englishman scored a brace, both from set pieces to help his side past Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

The Manchester United academy graduate scored from the spot before the interval and seemed to be full of confidence more than any other United player when the team was on the ropes.

Chelsea started the encounter on the front foot but were eventually stunned in the end. It’s the end of the road for the Frank Lampard-led side while United make way to the last-8. The Red devils who have now gone four games unbeaten successfully put an end to the seven-game winning run of their opponents.

McTominay came close in the 13th minute but his long-range shot just went wide of the post. Chelsea pushed forward for a goal and in one of these runs, Alonso was caught for his carelessness at the back.

Daniel James with his dashing space drove towards Chelsea’s defence and having being bumped on the rear by an onrushing Alonso, he had no chance than to fall to the ground.

The left-back could have no complains when the referee called a penalty. He would however be reprieved that United haven’t been lucky from spot kicks.

Unfortunately for Chelsea, Marcus Rashford made no mistake about dispatching it into the net this time.

It was clear Chelsea couldn’t spring up anything with their marauding runs. Pulisic was kept quiet for most parts of the game by Wan Bissaka while Batshuayi couldn’t manage to hold the ball a bit.

Batman as he is known by most Chelsea fans did later manage to pull an equalizer. It was fair and square till Rashford took a freekick Ronaldo-esque to give his side the lead.

Chelsea are out!
