– The National Working Committee, NWC, demands that INEC should declare the winners of the election.
– PDP National Chairman, Prince Secondus and the party’s National Secretary Ibrahim Tsuari declared their support for Governor Wike.
A Committee under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, The National Working Committee, NWC, has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to declare the winners of the last Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The elections which held on March 9, 2019, has yet to be collated by the body.
PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, during a solidarity visit to the state governor, stated that it was uncalled to stop an election for any reason.
In his words, “I call on the INEC Chairman not to drag the country into crisis because of inconclusive elections. This manoeuvre is not good for the nation’s democracy”.
“He should go ahead and conclude the process of elections in Rivers and Bauchi States. We should move ahead. Those aggrieved should approach the tribunal.”
He said, “We are here to say that we stand with you. We have prayed with you in private and we are standing with you at this crucial and trying moment. We ask God almighty to ensure that you cross this red sea”
Ibrahim Tsauri, the Peoples Democratic Party National Secretary, also gave his statement on the matter. He asked that the military should be responsible solely for the protection of the Nation’s territorial integrity, and not getting involved with Electoral issues.
According to him, “The military should protect the territorial integrity of Nigeria. They should not be involved in Electoral Matters”.
“The involvement of the military in the Governorship election of Rivers State is an attempt to truncate the nation’s democracy”.
He also declared his support for Governor Wike, describing the governor as a pillar of the PDP. He also asked INEC to do the needful regarding the election results by declaring the winners.
