Robben And Ribery Both Register Goals In Final Game In Bayern Colours

The veteran duo of Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben have played their last game for Bayern Munich with each of them registering themselves on the scoresheet in the Bavarians 5-1 mauling of Eintracht Frankfurt to wrap up a seventh successive Bundesliga crown.

The icons who have been ever present for the Bavarians on the flanks both scored, ultimately ending an unusually tight two horse race for the title with Bayern coming out winners, two points ahead of their closest rivals, Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern Munich fans greeted their best players of the decade alongside veteran Rafinha with a tifo and a standing ovation just before the game as the trio were presented to fans present at the Allianz Arena for the very last time.

“They have defined an era here, and from an emotional point of view, I would have played them, but I have to make sporting decisions,” said coach Niko Kovac who opted to start them from the bench.

Although, Robben and Ribery who have spent 10 and 12 years respectively at the Allianz Arena could only find a place on the bench, they both came in and bagged goals in their names with scores already settled at 3-1.

The wing duo have notched up several trophies whilst wearing Bayern colours including a Champions league title in 2013.

Ribery scored a trademark goal, driving the ball from the left before beating two men and scoring an audacious chip past former PSG goalie, Kevin Trapp.

Five minutes later Robben came for his share of the spoils, coming alive in the box to tap in a David Alaba cross from a yard out.

At a packed Allianz Arena, fans – including supermodel Heidi Klum – waved away two of Bayern’s best ever.

Robben and Ribery embraced in an emotional cuddle as they waved at the place that they had called home for about a decade.
