Roma Eye £15million Move For Dejan Lovren

AS Roma are reportedly currently in talks with Jurgen Klopp for the possibility of signing Dejan Lovren with the Croatia International having fallen down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.

The Serie A club are interested in signing the centre-back for a sum of £15 million and might make a move if the Reds give a go-ahead.

The 30 year old Croatian has found himself down the pecking order behind the likes of club transfer record defender, Virgil Van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez and would be open to a move to the Serie A in search of first team football.

Although, they might face a stiff competition from Serie A rivals, AC Milan, they are ahead of the queue in the race to sign the former Southampton defender.

Lovren who has now made 170 appearances for the Reds joined his teammates at Anfield in 2014 for a £20m fee.

However, a series of illnesses and injuries has seen him lose his place to Van Dijk, Matip and Gomez who are now favourites for the centre back position.

The Croatian managed only 18 appearances last term, compared to Gomez’s 25, Matip’s 31 and Van Dijk who was present in almost all of the Reds games. He was also unused in Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Norwich City.

He would also take no part in Liverpool’s Super Cup clash with Chelsea on Wednesday having not travelled with the remainder of the squad to Turkey.

The Merseyside club do not have any problems with Lovren longing for a move elsewhere and have promised they would let him leave of the tabled offer is suitable for the club.

They apparently did same with former squad members, Simon Mignolet and Lucas Leiva.

The 30 year old’s exit would call into question the strength of Klopp’s squad with the pair of Matio and Gomez having missed a number of games for the Merseyside club last term due to injuries.
