Ronaldo Breaks Juventus Record With Goal Scoring Run

Cristiano Ronaldo continued his goal scoring streak and red-hot form in the final third. However, it was not enough to save Juventus from a disappointing defeat at the hands of Hellas Verona.

The Portuguese broke a new record, becoming the first Biaconeri to score in 10 consecutive games.

Only few days after celebrating his 35th birthday, the Portugal International after a delicious one-two with Paulo Dybala, latched onto the ball, outran the last defender, created for himself some space before driving a low shot into the corner of the goal.

That goal took Ronaldo’s season tally to 20, a large proportion of which he scored in the last 10 games.

The previous record was held by David Trezeguet who scored in 9 consecutive games as far back as 2005.

Despite once again registering his name on the scoresheet, Juventus’ hearts were broken by a determined home side.

Fabio Borini, a former Southampton and AC Milan attacker cancelled out Ronaldo’s goal in the 76th minute before a VAR intervention helped Verona to a penalty they beautifully converted.

It was Giampaolo Pazzini who converted from the spot to hand Juventus a disappointing defeat, one that could see Inter Milan top the Serie A this weekend if they fail to come out tops in the Milan derby.

Inter Milan are currently three points adrift of Juventus but with a game in hand and a better goal difference they can potentially top Sarri’s men this weekend.

Ronaldo might be in hot form at the moment but Bayern Munich consider him too old for them.

“Of course there are many names linked with us in the press,” club president Herbert Hainer told TZ. “But Ronaldo is a bit too old for us.”

Ronaldo himself admitted he didn’t think he would remain prolific at age 35.

“At 35? I thought I was going to be a fisherman in Madeira,” the Juventus forward said to Canal 11.
