Ronaldo Wins Portuguese Player Of The Year Ahead Of Bernardo Silva

Cristiano Ronaldo has yet picked up another award beating the pair of Atletico Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva to the Portuguese Player of the Year award, his 10th.

Ronaldo who isn’t new to picking up both individual and team awards for his heroics on the turf has dominated the awards since he got his first in 2007. In fact,  he has only been beaten to the award twice since then.

The 34 year old who sped 90m in 10secs in Juve’s 4-3 win over Napoli has been in electrifying form since his switch to the Serie A, lifting yet another Scuddetto.

Ronaldo speaking to Dailymail after the awards said he was delighted to move on from there in a year that has been exceptionally challenging for him on a personal level.

In his words: “This world is so fast, with the social media, the press, it’s been wild. It’s been an extremely complicated year on a personal level. Don’t let anyone pull you down.”

The Portuguese superstar notched 28 goals and 10 assists with Juventus last term, maintaining his status as arguably the best player in the last decade.

He also made the three-man shortlist for the FIFA ‘The Best’ scheduled to be awarded sometime this month, one for which he is a strong contender.

Ronaldo has kicked off his glorious career at Sporting Lisbon suggested that he would like to see the club pick up an award in the near future.

“I can’t help but mention that Sporting deserves a little prize. Next time,” the Juventus forward said.

Benfica’s female team were named the Women’s Team of the Year, but the individual awards were shared around a bit.

Braga gaffer Miguel Santos was handed the Female Coach of the Year prize, whilst the Female Player of the Year award went to Jessica Silva who plies her trade in Lyon.

Although, many think Bernardo Silva deserved the award more, their opinions wouldn’t count. Ronaldo has shown himself worthy of the crown.
