Sarri Storms Off Training Pitch Following Players Bust-Up [Video]

Maurizio Sarri stormed off the training pitch on the eve of the Europa league final following a bust-up between Higuain and David Luiz.

The Blues were making their final warm-up preparations before the showpiece event and Europa league finals showdown with Arsenal to be held at the Olympic Stadium in Baku.

But as the players partook in a training drill, tempers were seen fraying after Higuain made a late challenge on David Luiz and the pair were seen to exchange words.

Footage from the training session showed David Luiz expressing his displeasure with the lunging tackle and jab from Higuain just one day before the final.

The Brazilian defender then appeared to refuse Higuain’s apology, leading Sarri to turn away and head for the dressing room throwing his hat in the air and kicking hard in frustration.

The Italian gaffer eventually left the training pitch down the tunnel, leaving the Chelsea players baffled and wandering on the pitch, while Luiz later walked off before returning a few minutes later.

It’s not the first time that Sarri has lost his patience with his players after the 60-yr-old was left seething when Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted for Willy Caballero in the EFL Cup final.

Chelsea responded to the incident and the reactions following the video leak stressing that Sarri didnt storm off the pitch in frustration or anger about the incident that went down between two of his players.

A spokesman for the London club said:

“Maurizio’s frustration displayed at the end of training was not related to any of his players, but was due to not being able to practise set-plays in the final 15 minutes of the hour-long training session as it remained open to media.”

Chelsea will be missing the services of Ngolo Kante and Pedro with the duo remaining on the sidelines due to injury.
