Sen. Shehu Sanni reacts to Saudi Arabia building a refinery in Nigeria

– Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sanni has reacted to the report that Saudi Arabia wants to build a refinery in Nigeria

– He stated that the refineries promised by the ruling party has not been built

An earlier report through the country’s Min. for Petroleum, Ibe Kachukwu had made it known that middle east country, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria are in talks on the former building a refinery in the West African country.

The Min. for Petroleum made it known that Nigeria has began talks with Saudi Arabia oil official company, Saudi Aramco for investment in the country’s refinery.

Ibe Kachuwu during the Financial Sector Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia said, the two countries are looking at the cooperation across multi-levels, refinery, “for example, we are looking for investment in four of our refineries.”

We are looking at the potential for Liquefied Natural Gas investment. We are looking at some straight trade deals in terms of our DSDP programme, to see how they (Saudi Arabia) can participate and bring in products into the country,” he added

However, Sen. Shehu Sanni has reacted to the latest move by the Federal Government.

Sen. Shehu Sanni in his statement stressed that the refineries promised by the ruling party has not been built and also the ones available are not working either.

He said it is tiring for Nigeria to be begging Saudi Arabia, which is also an oil producing country to come and build refineries in the country.

Sen. Shehu Sanni in a tweet via his Twitter handle wrote, ”the refineries promised has not been built, the ones we have are not working and when they are asked, they will point at Dangote refinery; And we are begging Saudi Arabia, an oil producing country like us to come and build refineries in Nigeria. This kin thing tire me.”
