Senate INEC Committee Visits Bayelsa Ahead of Governorship Poll [Photos]

INEC Committee is in Bayelsa to know if INEC is ready for poll.

The Senate Committee on Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) is in Bayelsa state to ensure the electoral agency is prepared for the November 16 poll.

The chairman of the Committee, Kabiru Gaya, said the visit is to to ensure that that INEC has the needed materials to prosecute the election.

“In our efforts to see that a hitch-free election is conducted in Bayelsa State next week, members of the Senate INEC Committee and myself, Senator Kabiru Gaya, the chairman of the committee visited the State with a view to ensuring that all the prerequisite materials for free and fair gubernatorial election are made available and beforehand. It is our duty and schedule to uphold democracy and its tenets,” the former Kano governor wrote on his Twitter page.


INEC had already identified flashpoints that concerned likely violence in the state. The Police authority has however said there will be enough personnel on ground to avoid breakdown of law and order.
