Sevilla Vs Barcelona – Copa del Rey January 20 Preview

Sevilla will play hosts to FC Barcelona at the Estadio Ramon for the first leg encounter of their Copa Del Rey quarter-final tie in what promises to be a thrilling and interesting encounter.

The game should pan out interesting because we would be having a repeat of what was a final tie – for the same competition – for a quarter-final tie this time around. Let’s take a look at the clubs.

Sevilla

A total of 33 points has left Sevilla in fourth place on the league and inadvertently led them to securing a spot for the Europa league next season. They have been excellent performers this season.

Even so, they haven’t won a game in the league this season and would be looking to overturn their fortunes against the Catalans and perhaps, carry over that form to the league.

That said, the last time the two sides met at this stadium, it was the Blaugranas who came out 4-2 winners.

Barcelona

As we have mentioned in earlier previews of this Cup ties for Barcelona, they seem to have their name written on this cup and they know its theirs for the taking.

Valverde’s side ran out 5-1 aggregate winners over Cultual Leonesa in their last fixture of this Cup. That said, they needed Lionel Messi to overturn events for them in their last league outing – one which could have easily come out as a draw – if the Argentine wasn’t available.

The cup this time around isn’t top priority for them. This in any case, shouldn’t deter them from going for the win here.
