#SexForGrades: Nigerians React, Share Their Stories
Barely 24 hours since BBC Africa released the documentary covering sexual harassment by lecturers in West Africa’s popular universities, many Nigerians have reacted and shared their experiences with lecturers too.
The documentary explained how some lecturers offer sex to students in exchange for good grades and sometimes threaten to give poor grades if they refuse.
In the video, two lecturers were exposed, Dr. Boniface – a professor in University of Lagos and Dr. Butakor, a lecturer in University of Ghana.
BBC Africa announced that more lecturers will be exposed in the soon to be released videos.
In reaction, many Nigerians have commented and shared their stories. See some reactions below;
#SexForGrades: My project topic was approved on December 16, 2016. I submitted my first chapter in August 2017, almost 9 months later, not because I was dull, lazy or unserious, but because my supervisor was a known wolf in the world of sexual harassment.

In Uni, I studied law. Yet you would assume that the lecturers who taught us the law, respected the law. They didn’t at all.
I and many people I know were harassed non-stop.

So interesting to see people (especially men) be so vocal about #SexForGrades but argue against the need for feminism.
I’m thankful for this documentary because so many of you needed this to fight your inherent bias against and disbelief of women.— beauty. spirit. light. (@EniolaHu) October 7, 2019
