The documentary has led to the creation of hashtag #SexforGrade that has been trending on social media since yesterday.

The BCC Africa Eye got into action after gathering several testimonies from former students who were assaulted by lecturers in Nigeria’s premier university, University of Lagos and the University of Ghana.

The media organisation was able to get facts after sending undercover journalists posing as students inside the institutions.

Fani-Kayode took to his Twitter page to describe lecturers assaulting female students as predators.

“The “sex for admission” scandal in West African universities which has just been exposed by @BBCWorld and
@BBCAfrica is shocking.

“Is it any wonder that those that can afford it send their children to university abroad? Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu of UNILAG has a case to answer.

‘The number of girls and young ladies that have been subjected to rape and sexual abuse by sexual deviants, perverts and predators in Nigeria is frightful and unbelievable. Boniface is not alone. Nigeria is also the world’s capital for pedophilia, child rape, child marriage, and VVF!,” he tweeted.
