Seyi Law in an interview with Punch Newspaper stated that the inspiration for the prank was birthed on a flight to United Kingdom to see his wife and promote his forthcoming show.
The comedian said that it was on his way to the UK that he was struck with the idea that he tricked his fans into thinking that he and his wife were getting divorced just to see what reactions from several Nigerians would be like.
He mentioned that he was careful in his use of words in the message, playing with the words in the text but that the readiness of people to pounce on bad news left them blind to his creative pun.
