Seyi Law Says His Followers Grew By 3000 Following Divorce Prank

Social media was set on fire when comedian, Seyi Law announced that he and his wife had parted ways and filed for divorce, only for fans to be caught up in one of the comedian jokes with Seyi Law later revealing that it was only a prank, as covered in a report by iDONSABI.com.

Seyi Law in an interview with Punch Newspaper stated that the inspiration for the prank was birthed on a flight to United Kingdom to see his wife and promote his forthcoming show.

The comedian said that it was on his way to the UK that he was struck with the idea that he tricked his fans into thinking that he and his wife were getting divorced just to see what reactions from several Nigerians would be like.

He mentioned that he was careful in his use of words in the message, playing with the words in the text but that the readiness of people to pounce on bad news left them blind to his creative pun.

The comedian revealed that he learnt some lessons from the incident including the fat that bad news travels faster than good news.

According to him, his social media handle has grown by over 3000 followers after the news. iDONSABI.com also reported elsewhere that the comedian admitted to having over 50 ladies hit him up after the divorce prank.

“I had over 80,000 hits on my Instagram page that day, my followers grew by over 3,000 within 24 hours. I had over 50 ladies hitting on me with direct messages; that’s to tell you how mad the world can be. I don’t want to talk about what the ladies were saying for now”, he said.

Seyi Law revealed that his wife repeatedly called him on his flight to ask him what was going on after she confessed to receiving a barrage of calls and messages from loved ones who had seen the message posted by him.
