The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to observation raised by the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, who said the N500bn Social Investment Programme of her husband’s administration has failed “woefully” in the northern part of the country.
The first lady said the situation in her home state, as far as the implementation was concerned, was pathetic.
Reacting to the allegation in a statement signed by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the opposition party which had initially alleged that there is humongous fraud in the Social Investment Programme, said Mrs Buhari’s comment has further vindicated its stance that the administration is deceitful and a pretentious citadel of corruption.
According to the party, this showed it has not been crying wolf by and insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari must account for the trillions of naira stolen under his watch in the last four years.
PDP further lambasted the Presidency noting that funds meant for the welfare of the poor were allegedly stolen under the president’s watch.
The party further stated that now that the truth has been revealed by no lesser Nigerian than Buhari’s wife, the National Assembly and all anti-corruption agencies should immediately commence forensic investigation how the funds were dispensed and utilized.
Lambasting president Buhari administration, the PDP alleged that the ruling government has been using the names of innocent poor Nigerians to loot the national treasury and fritter away billions of naira to finance their lifestyle while Nigerians wallow in abject poverty.
Describing the situation as appalling, the PDP slammed the Buhari administration for allegedly allowing corruption and continues to thrive in evil concealment while diverting public attention from their rot by hounding innocent opposition figures on trump-up corruption charges.
Ologbondiyan further pointed that the party maintains that no matter how much deceit and falsehood appear to thrive, the truth must prevail at the end of the day.
