Supreme Court Judgement: Nigerians Must Have Sense By Force – Deji Adeyanju

Human rights activists, Deji Adeyanju has said that Nigerian must have a sense by force.

This a reaction to the explanation given by the Supreme Court in dismissing the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar challenging the reelection of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The apex court had ruled that the was “eminently qualified” to contest the February 23 presidential election.

Reading the judgement prepared by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, Justice John Okoro explained that what is only required for a candidate contesting the presidential election is secondary education even when the candidate does not possess the certificate.

Reacting to the ruling, Adeyanju took to his Twiter page and wrote: “BREAKING: Supreme Court says Buhari does not need a certificate to be president. Nigerians must have sense by force.”

The court added that contrary to the contention of the appellants, Buhari did not submit false information about his educational qualification to INEC.

On the website, www.factsdontlie.ng which the appellants downloaded the results of the election which they claimed belonged to INEC, the apex court said it could not be proven to belong to the electoral agency.

It also ruled that the appellants failed to prove the alleged irregularities including overvoting and they merely dumped documents on the lower court without calling witnesses to demonstrate them.
