Suspended Onnoghen Set To Be Judged By Supreme Court On May 17th

The  Supreme Court in Nigeria has fixed the date for delivering Judgement to the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen to May 17th 2019 in the suit filed by the Cross River state government seeking to set aside the six-count charge of non-assets declaration preferred against the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen by the Nigerian government.

iDONSABI gathers that the suit filed by the Attorney General of Cross River State on behalf of the Cross River state government, is challenging the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen ’s suspension and trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Recall that Justice Walter Onnoghen was suspended from his role as the Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2019 after he was accused of falsely declaring his assets since he assumed office in March 2017.

In addition, it is no news that the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen is an indigene of Cross Rivers state.

Furthermore, the suit in which the Cross River state government filed against Justice Walter Onnoghen, was dated January 22nd 2019, and marked SC/45/2019 has the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as defendants.
