Tension Rises in Ekiti As Gunmen Kill APC Treasurer

Mr. Adeoye, the treasurer of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ekiti Chapter was killed by unknown gunmen on Wednesday.

Mr. Adeoye was murdered on Wednesday night when the gunmen alleged invaded his home at Otun Ekiti in Moba Local Government, Ekiti. According to the Ekiti State APC Publicity

Secretary, Hon. Ade Ajayi the gunmen trailed the 54 – year old treasurer to his home at 9 pm. They killed him while he was having his dinner.
Hon. Ade Ajayi said the deceased was part of the party’s delegates that accompanied the new governor on his tour.

The deceased accompanied Gov. Fayemi on Wednesday on his thank-you tour to Ekiti North and South senatorial district. Mr. Adeoye has earlier served as the APC chairman in that local government before his emergence as the Treasurer of the party in the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Caleb Ikechukwu, has confirmed the incident, and the police have launched an investigation into the case. He said: “The case has already been filed with the police and the officers have commenced investigation.

“We have commenced an investigation to make sure the culprits are arrested. We, hereby, offer our condolences with the grieving family and assure the people of Ekiti State that the police are on top of this matter.”

In addition to this, the APC chairman of the state has described the killing as shocking and gruesome. In response to this incident, he called on the security agencies to start working on how these perpetrators will be apprehended.

Mr. Omotosho also added that the party will send a petition to the state’s commissioner of police and all other security outfits in the state.

He said these petitions will help hasten the rate of investigation as it is of the utmost importance that they catch those who assassinated the APC chieftain.
