Thugs In Benue State Set Ablaze Electoral Materials

The supplementary election which was conducted in Azendeshi ward in Chito town of Benue state was disrupted and destroyed as thugs attacked electoral officers and destroyed the electoral materials in the area of Azendeshi ward in Chito town of Benue state during the supplementary elections organized in the state.

For those with little or no information as regards Chito town, the town is the headquarters of Azendeshi ward with 13,000 voting population.

According to some reports, the electoral materials in Benue state around Asendeshi ward in Chito town were said to have been kept at a public primary school before thugs belonging to one of the political parties which are yet to be identified overpowered security men and set them ablaze in the state.

In addition, there was also more reports of a similar situation in part of Kwande local government area as thugs beat up the INEC staff and destroyed electoral materials but the situation was said to have been brought under control afterwards by security men.

Recall that the supplementary elections were conducted after the March 9th Governorship elections were shifted due to poor conduct of the elections on that faithful day and also due to election violence which disrupted the elections in the state.
