Tornado Manchester City Sweep Aside Weary Watford

Manchester City just like a swirling tornado swept aside a weary Watford, making a statement of intent just 52 seconds into the game.

The Citizens have become intimidating to any calibre of team that plays in the Premier League. They have now shown one way they can negotiate without the pair of Aymeric Laporte and John Stones who they lost to injury.

Pep Guardiola were 5-0 up just inside of 18 minutes and so confidently nullified the idea that they were weakened in the defence because of the loss of their defensive pair.

They are expected to face tougher sides than basement club Watford though, who are still without a win.

After Silva’s opener just 52 seconds into the game, Sergio Aguero converted a penalty before Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Otamendi all penned down their name on the scoresheet in a first-half rout that will be remembered in years to come.

Just 3 minutes after the interval, Bernardo Silva scored another and then his third before Kevin de Bruyne hit a rocket past Ben Foster to end the game at 8-0.

Manchester City were som comfortable and confident that Guardiola handed his third-choice centre-back, Eric Garcia his debut after the seventh goal.

This was only the second game for Watford’s new manager, Quique Sánchez Flores and he had been disgraced by such a wild margin.

It would be fun to know what Javi Gracia, sacked despite taking them to the FA Cup final, will think when seeing shameful scoreline.

It was a lovely day for Pep Guardiola’s favourite Citizen, Bernardo Silva after the Portuguese finished off a beautiful hattrick.
