Tottenham Drool In Their Own Blood With Brighton Win

Tottenham are drooling in their own blood at the moment and its the duo of Brighton and Hove Albion and Bayern Munich who have made sure of that in the space of four days.

Brighton, a bottom-table team in England’s top-flight is no Bayern Munich. Their goalie, Matt Ryan is no Manuel Neuer and Aaron Connelly couldn’t put up four goals like Serge Gnabry.

Yet, they got Spurs all the same and it was Aaron Connelly who was the leader of the onslaught.

They embarrassed the Lilywhites with a 3-0 scoreline ensuring a few steins would be raised in East Sussex on Saturday evening.

It was even more embarrassing when fans of the home side started singing ‘we want seven, we want seven’. Brighton caressed the ball from man to man and Tottenham neither had a clue nor any sense of urgency in the final third.

It was so bad that the home side continued in their serenade with chants of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ aimed at Mauricio Pochettino.

Before their dissection of Tottenham, Brighton hadn’t found the net more than once since their league game in December, 2018.

Their big win against Spurs was down to Connelly, 19, who was making his first Premier League debut. The teenager formed an excellent strike partnership with Maupay who opened the scoring.

The first goal was down to a goalkeeping gaffe by Hugo Lloris just inside of three minutes but what happened next must have churned stomachs at the Amex.

The French goalkeeper was supposed to pick up a routine catch from Pascal Gross’ in-swinging cross but the World Cup winner dropped the ball for Maupay to nod in.

Lloris couldn’t stand and no it wasn’t because of the embarrassment from the howler. The Spurs man was in excruciating pain having landed with his left arm bent backwards.
