Transfer Window Live – News and Rumours – Day 16

It’s day 16 of the transfer window and iDONSABI brings you updates on the transfer stories making the rounds. Today, we focus on transfer rumours surrounding Pedro Obiang and Claude Puel.

West Ham Rejects Bid for Pedro Obiang

The Hammers have reportedly rejected a bid from Fiorentina for Pedro Obiang. Fiorentina has reportedly made a €10m bid for the midfielder. However, Manuel Pellegrini has maintained that the 26-yr-old isn’t up for sale.

The Hammers gaffer has preferred a Noble-Rice defensive partnership in recent games. This is for plausible reasons as the 19-yr-old Rice can also play as a holding midfielder. Moreover, the youngster has further strengthened his stake in the starting XI by scoring the only goal in their last outing. Even so, Pedro Obiang has already made 18 appearances this term.

The decision to hold on to the Equatoguinean is further strengthened by the injuries to Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere. The midfielder will therefore provide the needed squad depth that the club needs.

What this deal could mean?

West Ham would only consider the 26-yr-old’s sale if a possible replacement is lined up. According to Evening Standard, the club would turn their heads in the direction of Jonjo Shelvey if they fail to keep the midfielder at the Betway stadium.

Brendan Rodgers Could Well Be On His Way To The King Power Stadium

Claude Puel could lose his job to Brendan Rodgers if the Foxes lose their next match against Wolves. Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers isn’t alien to the hassles of the Premier League having managed Liverpool.

It is however not clear if the Celtic’s boss would favour a move away from Celtic where he has already won seven titles in two and half seasons. The 45 year old has been increasingly linked with a move to the King Power stadium and there’s every possibility that the deal works out.

The Irishman faces his toughest challenge yet as Aberdeen, Rangers and Kilmarnock are all big challengers for the trophy this time around
