Transfer Window Live – News and Rumours – Day 15

It’s day 15 of the transfer window and iDONSABI brings you updates on all transfer stories making the rounds in the footballing world. The focus of the day is an impending deal by Everton for Ndombele.

Everton to sign Tanguy NDombele

Everton are poised to sign Lyon-midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in a bid to bolster their midfield options. However, according to Dailymail, the Merseyside are to table a sum of £75m if they want to make the transfer possible. Marco Silva side have shown their interest in the box-to-box midfielder since last year. Manchester City have also been hot on the tails of the French midfielder. This is not unconnected to the fact that Pep Guardiola sees him as a possible replacement for the ageing Fernandinho. The Brazilian, who signed for the Citizens in 2013, has gone on to make over 183 league appearances for the Manchester club.

Everton will be hoping to recoup some of the £75m – if NDombele’s deal goes through – from the sale of PSG-bound Idrissa Gueye. The French giants are interested in the midfielder and will be delighted to have him at the Parc des Princes. The Merseysiders currently value Gueye at £40m.

What the deal could mean?

If the French midfielder is signed, we could be thrilled to the tune of a Gomes-Ndombele partnership. Marco Silva could as a result then see his side as major contenders for a UEFA Champions League spot.

Seeing NDombele in the Ligue 1 this season, I was thrilled to watch what I call “a modern midfielder” play. Combining his impressive technical ability and competitive nature, the 22 year old has staked his claim as one of Lyon’s most consistent players this season. It’s easy to see why Marco Silva is so keen on bringing the player over to the blue half of Merseyside.

If Everton get the deal over the line, the fans can consider this transfer a real coup for their club.
