Frenkie De Jong EnRoute To Barcelona?

Frenkie de Jong has been snapped up by Barcelona in a bid to bolster their midfield options – with PSG and Man City having being the frontrunners for the signing of the youngster before the start of the January transfer window.

Two seasons have seen Barcelona introduce players such as Alena, Arthur Melo and Arturo vidal into their midfield setup and they would be looking to add some more.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona President, Josep Maria Bartomeu; general manager, Pep Segura; Eric Abidal and Ramon Planes traveled to Amsterdam, Netherlands, in order to initiate discussion with the Dutch midfielder and convince him of a move to Camp Nou.

According to the report, Bartomeu convinced the 21-yr-old on why he should favour a move to CampNou over one to the Etihad or Parc des Princes.

Although, a deal seems likely, the Catalans are yet to announce any progress because of their wariness of the possibility of a last minute snub by the youngster just like the case of Antoine Griezmann last summer

Barcelona are currently in search for a long-term replacement for Ivan Rakitic and Frenkie de Jong might just fit into those shoes properly.

Middlesbrough are reported to have agreed personal terms with John Mikel Obi after the Nigerian midfielder passed his medicals.
