iDONSABI brings you updates all transfer stories, news and rumours with our lenses focused on transfers across Europe. Our talking point today is Atletico Madrid’s loan move for Chelsea striker and Spain International, Alvaro Morata.

Alvaro Morata secures loan move to Atletico Madrid

The 26-yr-old will now play for second placed Atletico Madrid in the La Liga till the end of the 2019-20 season.

The Spaniard joined the London Blues for a club record transfer fee of £60m under the reign of Antonio Conte on a five-year contract but has failed to justify the huge amount shelled out for him.

Although, the player was quick to bow his trumpet netting seven goals in his first eight games, the former Real Madrid man has managed only 46 Premier league appearances with a meagre 11 goals.

This season he has hardly started any match with midfielder Eden Hazard having to shoulder goal scoring responsibilities for the team in a false 9 role – one from which he has produced 10 goals and 10 assists in the league.

Recall that he formerly plied his trade in Atletico Mardid as a youngster before being shipped to rivals, Real Madrid.

His move is following his poor performances and Chelsea’s recent singing of Gonzalo Higuain. He will now go on to play alongside Diego Costa who once played for the London Blues as they try to vie for a silverware this term.

Atletico Madrid on the signing declared Morata  prolific goalscorer hence the loan move.

Morata had this to say:

“I’m very happy and proud to be here. I can’t wait to start training, meet my new teammates and play.”

The player would now wear the No.22 shirt for the Spanish side with his next games being against two of his former clubs – Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League.

We hope that the striker quickly finds his feet in his new club.
