Issue Clarified

Last Week, we reported that the CEO of 5 Star Music Group, Emeka Okonkwo popularly known as E-money bagged an honorary doctorate degree.

He congratulated himself on an Instagram caption alongside a picture of himself in a graduating ceremonial garb.

“To God be the glory.

I have received an honorary doctorate degree in Business Management and Corporate Governance at an event held at the University of Lagos.

“I’m joined here by the incoming deputy governor of Lagos (an influential politician) also bagged a doctorate degree. Congratulations to all honourees!”

Meanwhile, a list was shared on the Unilag’s official Facebook page disclosing the names of the people awarded a doctorate degree.

“Please note that the University’s official colours are maroon and gold and the personalities who were conferred with these honorary awards by the Chancellor of the University (see pictures) are in the appropriate attire.

It is worthy to note that the afore-mentioned personalities are the only people who were conferred with these awards by the University of Lagos at the 50th Convocation Ceremonies, thus, any story stating otherwise is false and should be amended accordingly.”

The statement was signed by the Principal Assistant Registrar and it consisted of 5 names, missing out E Money’s name.

However, the issue was clarified when people found out that they had misconstrued the millionaire’s statement.

He was awarded by European American University at an event held at Unilag not by Unilag.

But a twitter user couldn’t help but mock Emoney, the twitter user with the username @mrayedee tweeted,

“Somebody who calls himself ‘emoney’, a person with no verifiable source of income, this person claimed he got an honorary Doctorate degree from UNILAG of all places and some actually believed it? “
