Suspected gunmen yesterday, February 18th, abducted the village head of Sabon Gida, Bakin Kogi in Lafia East development area of Nasarawa state.
The Traditional Ruler identified as Dauda Yakubu who was yesterday night kidnapped by unknown gunmen is said to have been requested to pay N5 million ransom as confirmed by the family members in the state.
iDONSABI gathers from sources in Lafia that the incident occurred at about 1 am yesterday night.
A family source who spokes based on anonymity informed sources that the unknown gunmen numbering more than five invaded the residence of the village head and whisked away the monarch to an unknown destination.
Some people who witnessed the incident also disclosed that the kidnappers have been in touch with the family and are demanding for N5m ransom from the family members before his release and are also threatening to kill the abducted monarch if they do not comply with their demands.

When he was contacted, the acting Police Public Relations Office in Nasarawa state command identified as ASP Samaila Usman, who confirmed the incident to reporters stated that the state commissioner of police identified as Mr. Bola Longe upon receiving information immediately mobilized a team of security operatives consisted of police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, DSS and hunters to the area to go in search of the kidnappers upon receipt of the information.
According to the acting Police Public Relations Officer, he confirmed that the police has commenced a serious manhunt in the neighbourhood and its environs including Lafia, Assakio, Sabon Gida, Barkin Kogi and Obi local government area of the state to ensure that the monarch is rescued without being hurt.
Usman further gave assurance to the public of the command’s commitment to rid the state of crimes and criminality.
