Unknown Gunmen Murders Benue APC Chairman

The Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State identified as Boniface Okoloho, has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in the state.

The APC chairman in Ohimino Local Government Area of Benue state, Boniface Okoloho, was reportedly murdered on Saturday, February 16th 2019, by unknown gunmen on his way home from a party function in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue state.

Ohimini Local Government is an Idoma dominated area in the state which forms part of Benue South Senatorial District.

A deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations in Benue State identified as Olubunmi Oshoko, confirmed there was such report from the particular local government in the state.

Olubunmi Oshoko, the deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations in Benue State said in a statement:

“I cannot authoritatively confirm but there was something like that.”

“A case of culpable homicide was reported from that area but we haven’t gotten the full report.”

The chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Benue South identified as Mohammed Hassan, also confirmed the incident to various sources and news outlets.

According to Mohammed Hassan, the Chairman of APC in Benue South, he said in a statement:

“It is true, our Ohimini local government chairman has been killed.”

Mohammed Hassan further stated that the party will make more details of the killings available very soon.

Recall that the presidential and parliamentary elections were scheduled to hold on Saturday, February 16th, 2019, but due to logistics as claimed by INEC, the elections were then postponed few hours to the commencement of the polls to next Saturday, February 23.
