FG Appoints Electoral Reform Committee

The Federal Government has appointed a new committee to handle another round of electoral reforms in the country. This however has received reactions from various quarters seeing is not the first time we are having electoral reforms. The person appointed to chair the committee is Mr. Ken Nnamani, a former Senate President and former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party. The government has however said it is not an imitation of the Justice Mohammed Uwais committee but an improvement on the preceding one.

President Buhari to Sell Off Presidential Jets

The Federal Government of Nigeria under President Buhari has said it would be selling off some of the aircrafts that are part of the Presidential fleet. The others will be handed over to the Nigerian Airforce. This was confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in a statement issued. According to him two will be sold off to cut down costs. The President on his part approved that sales be advertised on Nigerian Newspapers.

IMF: Nigeria to Come Out Of Recession

The International Monetary Organization (IMF) has predicted that Nigeria will experience a growth rate of 0.6 percent in 2017 lifting it out of the economic recession. Based on the IMF Outlook released on Tuesday Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product will have a marginal increase of 0.6 percent while the Consumer Prices will rise by 17.1 percent. Also Nigeria’s current account balance is expected to slump by 0.4 percent.

Patoranking Drops Music Video

Reggae and dancehall artiste Patoranking has released one of the video to a song in his new album, God over Everything. The track title is Money and it featured Phyno and is directed by Sesan. Patoranking started his now thriving career as a dancer and a lover of ghetto music.

Ecowas Orders Release of Sambo Dasuki

The ECOWAS community court of justice has declared the prolonged detaining of former NSA by the Federal Government as illegal and an unlawful violation of his legal rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Right. The three-man panel headed by Justice Friday Nwoke ruled that Federal Government should release Dasuki having held in detention since the November 5, 2015.

US 2016: Pence and Kaine Square Up At Debate

The Vice-Presidential candidate of the two major parties for the US Presidential elections on Monday met for their first ever debate on the run up to the elections in November. Mr. Kaine of the Democratic Party severally challenged Mr. Pence, the Republican to defend the various statements made by his principal Donald Trump while on the campaign trail. Mr. Pence on the other hand continued to avoid and deny questions all through the debate.

Hurricane Mattew: An Eventful One for Haiti

Haiti has been having a bad week since it was hit by a deadly hurricane mattew rescue workers are finding it difficult to reach out to areas that have been cut off by the storm. This has also forced the officials to postpone the presidential election that was slated for this weekend. At least 10 people have been reported dead while thousand others have been displaced. UNICEF has said that Haiti is facing the largest humanitarian event since 2010 when it was hit by the catastrophic earthquake.

Super Eagles Confident Of Qualifier against Zambia

The Super Eagles Coach, Gernot Rohr has said that the team is ready for the 2018 FIFA World Qualifier against Zambia on Sunday. He said this while addressing a press conference in Abuja pointing out that the Zambians are a good side with aging players while the Eagles had young players who understand the importance of playing in a World Cup. On the chances of having a win he said, “I think this game will be a focus and an important game against the team”.

Saraki, Ekweremmadu: FG Withdraws Charges

The Federal Government has withdrawn charges of forgery of Senate Standing Orders, 2015 that was leveled against Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his his deputy Ike Ekweremmadu at the Abuja High Court. In the same vein, the Ministry of Justice amended the charges and attached it as amended charges in which only the former clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Salisu Maikasuwa and a former deputy clerk, Mr. Ben Efeturi were the ones accused.

Kim Kardashian Robbed In Paris

Reality TV Show Star Kim Kardashian experienced a robbery attack at her luxury apartment in Paris. Based on reports she was bound, gagged and robbed at gunpoint. The robbery was carried out by five men who were dressed as policemen forcing the concierge to take them Kim’s room in Hotel Pourtales. According to the concierge one of the robbers didn’t know Kim with the way he was saying, “Where is the rapper’s wife?”

I Go Die Receives Award

Nigerian comedian, I Go Die has been given an award of peace by the United Nations World Habitat. The award according to his post on his instagram page was dedicated to Hillary Clinton while stating how she stood by her husband in times of trouble in their marriage. He described her as a mentor to all women around the world today.
