Why APC Leaders Want Ambode Impeached
Ambode is not off the hook just yet. The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode is just a step from Impeachment. Despite losing his re-election bid in the All Progressive Congress (APC), the leaders of the party has, reportedly, concluded plans to impeach him from office in order to cement their victory in the coming elections.
This indication was obvious on Saturday and it confirmed reliable reports that APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken necessary steps to ensure the success of this plan.
The National Leader has given directives to various quarters to ensure the things go out as planned.According to reliable sources, the impeachment plan has been in the works for quite a while.
Although it was seen as a last resort if other favorable plans failed. However, various sources within Ambode’s camp has debunked the rumors as baseless. They also stressed the fact that the governor has been working tirelessly towards the success of the party and its candidate in the coming elections after the primaries on September 29.
One of the sources said there was no evidence to back any allegations from those at bourdillon who were hell-bent in throwing the state into another round of confusion. Stakeholders in Lagos APC have allegedly mounted pressure on the Tinubu to activate plan B in their bid to get rid of Ambode and eliminate whatever threat he might pose to the coming elections.
The stakeholders have decided it will be un-strategic to leave the present governor in office, considering the kind of money at his disposal. In addition to this, Ambode is still in control of the security architecture of the state, and the State stakeholder are worried that he might jeopardize the successful emergence of their candidate in the coming elections.
The Impeachment move was further given credence when the House of Assembly ordered 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) and 20 Local Governments to call the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) in their areas back to work for refuse clearing with immediate effect. This was done to displace the Visionscape company brought in by Ambode.
