- Omokri expresses doubt over the independence of the legislature.
- Gbajabiamila has said the thought of him been Tinubu’s puppet is lame.
Reno Omokri, a former media aide to former president Goodluck Jonathan has said the National Assembly might not be independent with the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila bowing to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu when he went to visit him at his house in Lagos.
Recall that a picture also showed that Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege bowed to president Muhammadu Buhari when he went to the state house alongside Senate President Ahmed Ali to greet him after emerging leaders of the 9th National Assembly.
Reacting to a video showing Gbajabiamila bowing to Tinubu, Omokri too to his Twitter page and wrote: “Video of Speaker Gbajabiamila bowing to Bola @AsiwajuTinubu in Lagos. Somehow, I do not think Nigeria will have an Independent Legislature with a Deputy @NGRSenate President who kneels down to General Buhari and a @HouseNGR Speaker who bows to Tinubu.”
There had been insinuations that he is a puppet of the former Lagos governor when he admitted that withput Tinubu he might have not got to where he is.
Reacting at the dinner organised for him by the Lagos state government to celebrate his emergence as the speaker, he said the insinuations that him emerging as the speaker of the house was giving the speakership to Tinubu was very ridiculous, and added that people sponsoring the thought are doing it out of ignorance, as Tinubu only wanted the good of the country.
After their emergence, Tinubu had urged both Gbajabiamila and Lawan to see the offices entrusted in them as sacred.
