The new design made users to swipe horizontally to see their feeds instead of the normal vertical.

2. Patients Flee Ebola Holding Facility in DR Congo

Ebola Patients under monitoring has fled camp in eastern DR Congo on Thursday after the camp was attacked by demonstrators protesting delays in the country’s election.

About 20 patients fled the facility during the incident.

Former president Barack Obama was named the man Americans admire most for the 11th year in a row whereas President Donald Trump finished second in the poll for the fourth year in a row.

5. Saudi King Orders Government Reshuffle After Khashoggi Fallout

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman ordered a government reshuffle Thursday, replacing key security and political figures including the foreign minister, as the kingdom grapples with the international hassle over critic Jamal Khashoggi’s murder.

The reshuffle could help strenghten the authority of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is the heir to the Middle East’s most powerful throne.

6. Ozil Has Been a ‘Ghost’ for Two Years – Petit

Arsenal legend, Emmanuel Petit, has blasted Mesut Ozil. He said the playmaker has “been a ghost for two years” and lost all of his potential to be a top player.

Petit made the comments, after Ozil was substituted at half time in Arsenal’s draw at Brighton on Boxing Day, which raised more question marks about his future at The Emirates.

Serena Williams has refused to discuss the incidents that unfolded during the US Open final she lost to Naomi Osaka in September and is choosing to “move on to bigger and better things”.

In her first on-court appearance since that controversial final in New York, Williams lost an exhibition match to her sister Venus 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 in the UAE capital and is now headed straight to Perth to compete in the Hopman Cup alongside her countryman Frances Tiafoe.

When Serena was asked if the US Open final is a topic she’d like to avoid as the new season kicks off, Serena said: “I don’t avoid anything. I just don’t have time to talk about that. I talked about it, everyone talked about it for months and months and months and it’s best to move on to bigger and better things.”

8.UK Expresses Concern over the Number of Migrants Crossing English Channel to Reach the UK

The UK immigration minister has said that the number of migrants crossing the English Channel in recent days is “deeply concerning”.

Twenty three migrants were involved in three separate rescues on the Kent coast.

According to him, it comes after more than forty migrants were picked up on Christmas day.

9. The World’s Largest Beer Company to invest $100 Million in Cannabis Beverages

The newly legal industry is enticing alcohol heavyweights into the blossoming marijuana market  .

The world’s largest brewer, AB InBev, has concluded plans to invest $100 million with its partners in non-alcoholic drinks containing the active ingredients in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).

AB InBev will team up with Tilray, the Canadian cannabis company operating in 12 countries and backed by billionaire investor Peter Thiel. The beverage research will be conducted jointly with AB InBev subsidiary Labatt Breweries of Canada. Each firm is committing $50 million.

10. Google Gets EU E-money Licence in Lithuania Amidst Brexit Uncertainty

Lithuania’s Central Bank said it has granted Google a pan-European e-money licence as the Baltic eurozone state seeks to attract firms concerned that Brexit may bar them from the EU market.

Google Payment Lithuania “will be able to issue electronic money and provide payment services to ensure smooth operation of its marketplaces across Europe”, it said in a statement.

Lithuania, a nation of 2.8 million people, says Brexit has given a boost to its efforts to become a northern European hub for fintech firms.
