Xenophobia: Take Action Against South Africa Now, APC Chieftain Tells FG

  • Edo-born politician lauded FG on steps taken so far over the matter.
  • Attacks on Nigerians and other African nationals continue unabated.

Stanley Osifo, a chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) has called on the Federal Government to take more severe actions against South Africa to make the country feel the pulse of her xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other Africa nationals living in the country.

Speaking with the Nation in a chat, Osifo, who described attacks on Nigerians by South African nationals as unfortunate, said the country has forgotten the big brother role Nigeria played in the past during apartheid era to ensure South African liberation.


Reacting to the way the issue has been managed so far by the ruling government, the APC chieftain commended the matured manner it has been handled so far but expressed disappointment over the actions taken by South Africa at a time when black nations ought to be living together and united as one indissoluble entity.

The Edo born politician also said the killing of Nigerians and destruction of their properties over insinuation that some of them are dealing with drugs and trafficking is crude, adding that South Africans themselves cannot be completely exonerated from those infractions.

There has been renewed attacks on Nigerian in South Africa during the week.

Dispute the moves made by the Nigerian government to stem the tide, the attacks continued unabated until some angry youths were forced to damage properties belonging to South African companies in Nigeria as a retaliatory move.
