Yahoo Boy Bags One Year In Jail Over Internet Fraud

The Lagos Zonal Office of EFCC, on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, sentenced one Temitope Alani Teslim to jail on the basis of Internet fraud (Yahoo Yahoo).

Justice Sherifat Solebo who was the Judge at the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, convicted him for the crime on the basis of possession of fraudulent documents.

Temitope Alani Teslim was then arrested by officers of the Nigeria Army Corps of Military Police on May 16, 2018, around the axis of Ogba, Lagos and was further handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

During the investigation of Teslim, he wrote three statements, in which he confessed that he practised dating scam as a means of making his money.

Temitope Alani Teslim was re-arraigned on Wednesday, January 23, on an amended 22-count charge while bearing possession of fraudulent documents.

One of the counts of the charge brought against Temitope Alani Teslim read:

“That you, Temitope Alani Teslim (aka Hannah Ciar), on or about the 25th of June 2018 at Lagos, within the Ikeja judicial division, had in your possession a document titled ‘My Discussion With Stevieboy66’, wherein you represented yourself as a white female, Hannah Ciar, to one Stevieboy66, thereby containing pretence which you knew to be false.”

Temitope Alani Teslim was also identified to be called Hannah Ciar from the dating scam seen.  And the second count read that Temitope Alani Teslim on the 25th of June 2018 at Lagos, around Ikeja judicial division, was in possession of a document which was labelled ‘Happy Hump Day’ which included pretence which was discovered to be fake.

Alani Teslim, however, pleaded guilty to the charges brought before him.

The prosecuting counsel identified to be Bilikisu Buhari, informed the court that the defendant had entered a plea bargain with the EFCC.

After listening to the terms of the agreement reached by the prosecution and defence council respectively, the trial judge then went on to convict him accordingly and sentenced him to one year and four months in jail.
