Yinka Ayefele Insists He Will Walk Again

Popular Yoruba gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele in an exclusive interview with The Punch revealed his struggles in the entertainment industry due to his inability to walk.

The artiste was asked whether he had plans to become an artiste before the accident that claimed his legs. He responded by saying that being a professional musician was never on the list of card for him.

He maintained that the idea came after failing to raise the amount needed for the treatment of his leg. The gospel artiste said he heeded to the advice of friends who told him he could put his talent for singing into use by making an album in order to raise funds for his medical treatment.

When asked if he had second thoughts when he realized he couldn’t walk again, he said he did.

However, the singer was quick to point out that he still had the firm belief that he could use his legs again maintaining that nothing was impossible with God.

On the 8th of January this year, the wheel-chair bound singer paid a visit to Governor Abiola Ajimobi in order to thank him for the reconstruction of his building.

Prior to this, the governor had ordered the partial demolition of Ayefele’s music house – one that houses the popular Fresh FM, Ibadan.

This in to time sparked rage among Nigerians and residents of the state. Empathetic fans of the artiste and radio station were quick to point out that the wheel-bound singer made a living for himself rather than beg on the streets and so didn’t deserve the injustice served him.

Workers of Fresh FM also pointed out that Yinka Ayefele never owed them a dime and that the demolition of the building which had cost a lot of money in construction fees was a bad thing to do in the first place.
