Zanetti Confident Lautaro Martinez Will Favour Inter Over Move To Barcelona

Inter Milan legend, Javier Zanetti doesn’t see Lautaro Martinez leaving the Italian outfit anytime soon even with the mounting interest from Laliga giants, Barcelona.

The Argentine is being poached by Barcelona but is enjoying life at the San Siro. The Catalan giants have been linked with the forward for a long time now and are reportedly offering up to £9m as salary for the Argentina International to make a switch to the Camp Nou.

However, the former Inter player who is now Vice-President at the club remains confident of keeping Lautaro Martinez at the club.

“At Inter I see him happy, he identifies with the club,” Zanetti told ESPN.

“We believed in him. I see his future at Inter.”

The future of fellow countryman, Icardi is even more unsure. The Argentine is currently on loan at Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint Germain and has fallen out of favour despite notching 20 goals in 31 appearances at the Parc des Princes. Still, Zanetti doesn’t see the likelihood of Icardi staying at the San Siro.

“I don’t know, I don’t think so,” the former Inter Milan player said.

“But right now we’re not talking about the transfer market, the most important thing is health. Then we’ll have time to think about it.”

Icardi has repeatedly been linked with a move elsewhere and his agent, Wanda hasn’t ruled that out.

With football not one of the least interests in Italy at the moment, Zanetti took time to reminisce some of the best moments of his career.

The Italian recalled the 2010 Champions League win over Bayern Munich under the reign of present Spurs manager, Jose Mourinho.

“Triumphing at the Bernabeu was the realisation of a dream, winning meant crowning a great year,” he added.
