50-Year-Old Teacher Remanded In Prison Over Alleged False Information

A Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court situated in Abuja on Monday, January 4th, remanded a 50-year-old teacher identified as Anthonia Chijindu, in prison custody over alleged false information.

The Chief Magistrate identified as Aminu Eri, ordered the remanding of one Anthonia Chijindu, 50, in prison custody of the defendant and adjourned the case until Feb. 19, for further mention.

Anthonia Chijindu is known to be a teacher at the FCT Primary School in Zuba, is presently facing a one-count charge of giving false information by claiming a relationship with some offenders charged to court for house breaking and theft.

Previously, the Prosecutor identified as one Mr G. J. Ayanna, had informed the court in Abuja that the case was reported to the Police IGP- Intelligence Response Team by the complainant, some time ago in Dec. 2018.

The prosecutor, Ayanna stated that Anthonia Chijindu gave false information to the police by claiming that the three defendants caught for house breaking and theft were related to her on the basis of calling them her in-laws.

Ayanna stated that consequently bail approval was given to them on the condition that Anthonia Chijindu produces the defendants when they were needed in court, which she did not heed to and she failed to do it.

The prosecutor, Mr G.J Ayanna, made it clear that all the efforts made by him and other related people to produce the defendants before the Police Inspector General of Police- Intelligence Response Team proved abortive and not successful at the end.

The prosecutor, Ayanna, stated that the offence which Anthonia Chijindu involved herself in contravened Section 167 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, Anthonia Chijindu however, pleaded not guilty to the charge brought before her in court.
