Biography of Lawrence Oluwaseyitan AKA Seyi Law
Lawrence Oluwaseyitan Aletile popularly known by his stage name, Seyi Law is a Nigerian stand-up Comedian, actor, master of ceremony, event planner and television host. He has continued to soar in the comedy world since hitting limelight after winning the AY Open Comedy Mic in 2006.
Early life and background of Seyi Law
Seyi Law was born on the 22nd of June 1983 in Ilaje, Ondo State in the South Western part of Nigeria. He had his elementary education in Okitipupa,Ondo State. On completion of his primary education, he proceeded to obtain a junior secondary school certificate from Ekiti State Government College, formerly Unity Secondary School. He completed his Senior secondary school education at Methodist Boys High School in Victoria Island, Lagos State, Nigeria. Upon graduation from high school, Seyi Law went ahead to obtain a diploma in Computer Studies from Lagos State Polytechnic.
His Rise to Fame
He commenced his comedy career while studying at the polytechnic. He began performing as Master of Ceremony at social gatherings and events. Seyi Law rose to prominence after winning the AY Open Mic Comedy Challenge Competition in 2006. After emerging winner of the contest, he learnt the ropes of comedy from his mentor, AY Comedian for a year before deciding to go take up comedy as a profession.
Since then, he has featured various international comedy shows both home and abroad. His stage name is coined from his names “Oluwaseyitan Lawrence”.
Founder of “I Must Laugh”, Seyi has hosted several comedy shows, events and concert.
In an interview with the media, he revealed that he’s from a poor background. He confessed that as a result of poverty and unemployment, he once sold fish with his mum at Makoko market in Lagos state. He divulged that he had once worked at PZ as a casual worker. In his journey to fame, he joined his elder brother at Orile to start his business centre, where he make calls and sell recharge cards.
Whil doing that, he discovered he could make people laugh and that was how he got involved in the AY Open Mic Comedy Competition. Besides comedy, the renowned comedian has made a foray into acting by featuring in a number of movies like Prophet Nebu, My wife and I, Your Excellency amongst others.

As a celebrity, Seyi Law has had his fair share of controversies. He’s had face-offs with Nigerian journalist, Kemi Olunloyo over his daughter’s weight.

Seyi Law is married to Stacey Ebere and they are blessed with a child named Tiwaloluwa. They’ve been married for 9 years now.
