Boko Haram Attack Gaidam Town On Election Day

Barely one hour to the start of 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, February 23rd, Gaidam town in Yobe state is presently under Boko Haram attack, according to reports.

According to multiple reports, the attackers were seen at Maladari, a village located 6km to Gaidam around 3 am, very early on Saturday Morning, the day set aside for the Presidential and National Assembly polls.

A resident around Gaidam town in Yobe state, who identified himself as only Muhammad stated that:

 “They arrived Gaidam around 6:15 am and began shooting sporadically. “Residents including traditional rulers had fled the town. I’m currently taking refuge at Bukarti, the state governor’s village but we were told that the attackers are on their way here.”

iDONSABI gathers that the resident of Gaidam town in Yobe state, Muhammad, further stressed that many residents that fled the town are in the bush with their wives and children without direction. According to him, the people are suffering, and they are in a crossroad with no idea to do anything presently.

Recall that Gaidam town had in recent times recorded many attacks that left many soldiers and the insurgents dead in the past weeks and months in Yobe state.

Meanwhile, iDONSABI.com had earlier reported that multiple explosions rocked Maiduguri, Borno state capital, ahead of the presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for today, February 23.

The explosion in Maiduguri on Saturday morning began at exactly 5:52 am.

The explosions heard in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, were known to have occurred around Molai, Dambo’a road, Bulumkutu and Njimtilo road axis.

According to reports, it was recorded that gunfire and explosions were also heard from other parts of Maiduguri metropolis in Borno state.
