Recalled that Mohammed had stated during the end of the year press conference held in Lagos that the overall growth in Nigeria’s economy in 2019 was at an average rate of 2.2% over the first three quarters, compared to 1.7%

“There is an economy that will say they can afford to spend 37bn on repair national assembly. But to the economy in which average Nigerians live in, don’t think Lai Mohammed is talking abt that economy because that economy today has suffered a lot of setbacks.

“There have been policies that have put that economy on edge. Part of it is the debt profile of this government.”

While condemning Mohammed for not disclosing the debt ratio despite admitting that it is on the high side, side President Miuhmmdu Buhari is planning to service the debt by taxing poverty.

“They are still doing it. If you use the pos, they sare doing it.the essence of the pos was to stop the cashless economy. Now you get to filling station, you buy fuel, they said they are adding N50 plus because you are using POS. So, they are just taxing poverty looking for money everywhere.”

Speaking further on the debt issue, he said that as at 2015 that the present government took over, Nigeria’s debt was little over 12trn, but it is now over 25trn; meaning that within three years of the administration, they have borrowed more than Nigeria has ever borrowed in thirty years.

“And now they are still talking about borrowing $30bn more. Obasanjo just warned that bankruptcy is knocking at the door. So, how come will he say that the economy is doing so fine?

“You have people working in your environment, how do you measure economic growth when people are suffering and dying?”, he asked.
