“Efforts are Ongoing to Eradicate Boko Haram” – Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian army in ensuring that peace is restored in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.

Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, made the stand of the army known on Tuesday when he declared open the 2019 First Quarterly Conference of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps in Jaji, Kaduna State.

Buratai declared that no effort would be spared in winning the war against the remaining Boko Haram sect members in the region and perpetrators of other crimes across the He said the army would not spare any effort in ridding the region of insurgents as well as other related crimes in other parts of the country

The North Eastern States of Nigeria have been ravaged by Boko Haram since 2009, leaving the region unsafe for residents and indigenes. Most of the people in the area ravaged by Boko Haram now live in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps across the nation.

Buratai also asked for help from other security agencies to effectively combat  the insurgents. He conceptualised terrorism as a complex phenomenon that requires multiple efforts to contain and should not be left to the Nigerian Armed Forces alone.

He assured Nigerians of the military’s resolve to conquer in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists and also protect the territorial space of Nigeria.

Earlier in the month President Muhammadu Buhari told investors to come into nation, saying no local government in Nigeria is under the control of the terrorist sect, thereby praising the efforts of the military.
