Latest News in Nigeria Today: Easter: FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays; Buhari Lauds Bill Gates, Promises Not to Fail Nigerians; Read iDonsabi for full details.

1. Atiku Abubakar Releases Proof of Election Result From INEC Server. 

Former Vice President and the Presidential candidate of the PDP in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, insists that the results released through the server of INEC proves that he defeated President Buhari in the just concluded presidential election.

As an evidence to back his claims, Atiku issued the “unique MAC address and Microsoft product ID of the INEC server” from where the true results can be obtained from.

Part of the statement released reads as follows:

“The Servers from which the said figures were derived belong to the first Respondent (INEC). The figures and votes were transmitted to the first Respondent’s Presidential Result’s Server 1 and thereafter aggregated in INEC_PRES_RSLT_SRV2019, whose Physical Address or unique Mac Address is 94-57-A5-DC-64-B9 with Microsoft Product ID 00252-7000000000-AA535. The above descriptions are unique to the 15t Respondent’s Server.”

2. Lagos State Police Nab Two Suspects Over Alleged Involvement In The Weekend Cult Clash In Ajah Area of Lagos. 

The Lagos State Police command have captured two prime involved in the cult clash in Alasiya in the Abraham Adesanya area of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos state on Sunday the 14th of April.

The suspects were identified to be a certain Saheed Lateef and Julius Augulere, and they arrested for allegedly being involved in the cult clash that resulted in five people losing their lives.

Mr Bala Elkana, the Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest of the two suspects. He mentioned in a statement, an axe with bloodstains was recovered from the suspects at their home residence ag No. 13 Obodo Street Okeiranla, Langbasa, Ajah in Lagos state.

He also mentioned that the two suspects, Saheed Lateef and Julius Augulere had confessed to commiting the crimes.

3. Easter: FG Declares Friday, Monday Public Holidays. 

The Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau on behalf of the Federal Government on Wednesday made the declared Friday 19th and Monday 22nd April 2019 as Public Holidays to mark the Easter celebration for the year.

The Minister released the statement as signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, in Abuja. He enjoined Christians all over the world to emulate the exemplary life of Christ and to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and progress of the nation.

4. Arewa Calls On Federal Government To Take Responsibility For The Killings In The North. 

The Arewa Consultative Forum , ACF, during its last National Executive Council meeting charged the Federal Government to take full responsibility for fighting against the criminals behind the killings across the country, especially in the Northern states.

ACF also urged the Federal Government, traditional leaders and security forces to adopt fast measures that will bring back peace in the affected states across Nigeria.

5. Two N-Power Fraudsters Sentenced To One Year Imprisonment For Impersonation. 

Justice I.M. Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, in Rivers State has convicted and sentenced Sata Owugha Clinton and Bolounmubofa Blessing Soroh to a year imprisonment for impersonating a petitioner so as to enrol in the Federal Government of Nigeria’s N-POWER Social Welfare scheme.

Clinton and Soroh were caught when they used the name and identity of a certain Lovedy Chiamaka Uzor to enrol in the welfare scheme and obtained a sum of N360,000 from the scheme in the process.

6. Corruption: Peru’s Ex-president Commits Suicide Before Arrest. 

Alan Garcia who served as a Peruvian president has died on Wednesday after shooting himself in the head in order to avoid arrest over corruption allegations.

According to the reports gathered, Alan Garcia shot himself in the head at his home on Wednesday when the police were about to arrest him in an extensive corruption case. His death has been confirmed by his lawyer and hospital officials.

7. Buhari Lauds Bill Gates, Promises Not to Fail Nigerians. 

President Muhammadu Buhari has lauded Bill Gate for his consistent contribution to the eradication of polio and HIV diseases in the world at large, and especially in Africa.

The commendation ensued from a congratulatory phone call from Bill Gates to President Buhari, congratulating him on his reelection in the just concluded presidential election.

Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity made this know in a just released statement. He mentioned that Bill Gates had restated his commitment to the success of the President Buhari administration as well as the growth of Nigeria at large.

President Muhammadu Buhari also affirmed that Mr Gates monetary contributions has really benefited Nigeria’s progress and development.

8. Ministers Given Deadline to Submit Report. 

President Muhammadu Buhari has given his cabinet ministers until April 24, 2019 to submit a comprehensive “status reports on policies, programmes and projects” of their individual ministries, departments, and agencies.

In a statement released by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja on Wednesday, he disclosed that the president had given the deadline for the submission of the reports to the Presidential Audit Committee in the office of the Vice President.

He mentioned that all the ministers were given not later than Tuesday, 30th April 2019 to submit their reports and projected plans towards the start of President Buhari’s second term in office.
