1. APC flag-off National Campaign at Godswill Akpabio Int’l stadium, Uyo
The Godswill Akpabio International stadium was reported to be filled to the brim for the 2019 elections flag-off of the APC.
The stadium was decorated with posters saying: “Buhari and Ekere Together We Prosper’’; Next Level 2019 Buhari and Ekere’’; Yes to Buhari and Ekere; Sen. Owan Eno for 2019 in Cross River State; and `Ete Amedio’ (meaning: Papa Welcome)’’.
Other posters included “APC, Next Level Nigeria: Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Muhammadu Buhari’’, among others adorned the stadium.
2. Boko Haram Overruns Two Military Bases
Boko Haram overran two military bases in northeast Nigeria overnight as the jihadists battle for control of a central town on Lake Chad.
Military sources had reported that the Jihadists from the IS-supported Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) overran a naval base and a multinational joint task force (MNJTF) post in the town of Baga after a fierce battle.
3. Sammie Okposo Slams and Un-slams Akpororo
Popular gospel singers, Sammie Okposo said he believes in ‘practicing what you preach.’ And that’s why he has slammed comedian cum gospel artiste, Akpororo for taking off his shirt while performing in a Street Praise Jamz in Lagos.
This is totally wrong and out of order,”Okposo opined.
Interestingly, Sammie un-slammed Akpororo by deleting his post and acknowledged that he was wrong.
4. Security Guard Beats His Colleague to Death in Lagos
An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday has ordered that a security guard, Usman Abdulkareem be remanded in Prison for allegedly killing his colleague.
The accused, who is being tried for murder, was said to have hit his colleague, Augustine Musa, 34, for gossiping about him. A development he said got him infuriated.
5. Shehu Sani Tells Dangote to Be Careful With the ‘Broom’
Following Aliko Dangote’s appointment as a member of the Special Advisory Committee to President Buhari’s 2019 re-election, the senator representing Kaduna Central, under the Peoples Redemption Party, Shehu Sani, has on Friday advised the richest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote to be wary of the broom.
Sani sounded this warning through his tweeter page where he cautioned Dangote not to use the broom anyhow and also advised him to maintain the use of his machine concrete mixer.
In his words, “don’t use Broom to mix your concrete, maintain the use of your machine concrete mixer”.
6. Power Yet to Get to the South-East, Height of Political Intolerance – Obi
A member of the PDP Presidential Council and the Director of the Campaign’s CUPP/Inter-party Directorate, Sen. Ben Obi has described Osibanjo’s “mere thought” of making that “insensitive declaration” after Obasanjo’s eight-year presidential tenure and Osinbajo’s four years as vice president, in the context in which power is yet to rotate to the South East as the height of political intolerance and mischief-making”.

2Baba made this declaration Wednesday night during the Burna boy’s show, which held at the Convention Centre, Eko hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
8. Gridlock in Oshodi Axis as Petrol Tanker Explodes
A fuel-laden tanker has exploded at the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, opposite Biogas Industries, Lagos state.
According to an eyewitness, the 40,000-litre tanker filled with diesel was heading towards the Mile 2 area before it got flamed up.
The accident has reportedly caused gridlock within the axis. While the cause of the explosion is still unknown, the Nigerian police force has contained the situation.
9. US, Canada, Germany, Australia Take Part in Calabar Bikers Carnival
Competitors from the United States, Canada, Germany and Australia are participating in this year’s Bikers’ Parade in the ongoing Calabar Carnival.
Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River announced this while flagging-off the Calabar Carnival on Thursday. “Some of our friends from different countries of the world are here to participate in the bikers’ parade. “We have nationals from Germany, US, Canada, Australia and others as you can see,” he said.
According to him, “Calabar carnival has become an international brand which draws interest from people all over the world”.
10. Why We Invaded Melaye’s Residence – Police
The Police have explained their previously unexplained presence in the residence of Senator Dino Melaye.
According to the force, “Melaye is to answer to the case of attempted culpable homicide on the shooting of a Police Officer, Sgt Danjuma Saliu, attached to 37 Police Mobile Force (PMF) while on duty at a stop and search point along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State”.
The force also said that the offence was committed by the Senator and his armed thugs in Kogi State on the 19th of July 2018.
