PDP approves the indefinite suspension of 15 Local Government chairmen in Rivers

– PDP in Rivers state has approved the suspension of 15 local government chairmen in the state indefinitely

– The affected chairmen were also given directives to handover all government property with them to their deputies

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP chapter in Rivers state has approved the indefinite suspension of 15 of it local government chairmen in the state.

According to a statement released by the PDP Rivers state secretary, Samuel Okpoko today, he made it known that the decision to suspend the 15 local government chairmen indefinitely was reached on Thursday during an emergency meeting by the state executive at the state secretariat in Port Harcourt.

According to Samuel Okpoko, the list of the affected Local Governement areas were as follow; Abua-Odual, Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Akuku-Toru, Andoni, Bonny, Degema, Eleme, Emohua, Khana, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Okrika, Omuma, Opobo/Nkoro, and Oyigbo.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers state also gave directives to all the suspended Local Government chairmen to handover all government property in their possession to their deputies.

This latest action by the PDP comes barely more than 24 hours after Governor Nyesom Wike suspended 12 Local Government chairmen in the state.

A report made it known that the governor had notified the Rivers State House of Assembly via a letter to the state Speaker of the House of his decision.

Wike had cited Section 64 (3) of the Rivers State Local Government Law No. 5 of 2018 as the premised for his action to sack the local government chairmen.

Below is a list of the suspended local government chairmen and their local government areas,

They are: Philemon Kingolo – Okrika, Tom Aliezi – Emohua, Daniel Daniel – Abua/Odual, Tony Phimoore – Degema, and Lahteh Loolo – Khana, Paul Kobani – Gokana, Ben Eke (Ahoada East), Samuel Nwanosike – Ikwerre, Philip Okparaji – Ikwerre, Paul Paul – Andoni, Christian Nwaiwu – Omuma, and Erasmus Victor – Ogu/Bolo.
