Police In Lagos State Apprehends 34-Year-Old Teacher For Defiling 14-Year-Old Pupil

The Lagos state police command has apprehended and arraigned a 34-year-old man identified as Quaseem Olayiwola, known to be a teacher in a school in Lagos state, for allegedly defiling and impregnating his 14-year-old pupil in the state and in the school.

The Police prosecutor identified as Inspector Donny Raphael, who brought Quaseem Olayiwola, the 34-year-old suspect before the Ikeja Magistrate court on Thursday, February 28th, made it clear that Quaseem Olayiwola committed the indecent act, punishable by law, between October 2018 and January 2019 in a hotel.

The father of the 14-year-old girl who was the victim discovered his daughter was pregnant and reported it to the police in Lagos state who then transferred the case to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja for further investigations to be carried out.

Quaseem Olayiwola was, however, subsequently arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogba on one count of defiling the 14-year-old victim.

The charge against Quaseem Olayiwola read:

“That you, Quaseem Olayiwola ‘M’, between October 2018 and January 2019 at Olubar Hotel C&S area, Ayobo, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully defile a 14-year-old girl by having intercourse with her and impregnating her. You thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The Chief Magistrate of the court identified as one Bola Osunsami, ordered that Quaseem Olayiwola is remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions on the matter.
