The spokesperson of police, Frank Mba revealed this in a statement released on Sunday.

Mba pointed out that the arrest followed a serious exchange of gunfire between police officers and the heavily armed bandits at the Akilbu Forest along the road.

The police spokesman, however, pointed out that two of the armed bandits escaped the scene action with gunshot injuries.

Mba also revealed that although one officer also suffered gunshot wounds, he is alive and receiving treatment in the hospital.

Mba also listed out the ammunition recovered by the officers. Mba listed six Ak 47 Rifles, one Pump Action Gun, 1,206 rounds of Ak 47 Ammunition, seven magazines, 28 cartridges, and 158 expended shells were recovered from the bandits during the operation.

Mba also pointed out that officers in the area have intensified efforts to arrest the bandits that escaped.

The acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, who launched the operation recently, commended the  efforts of his men for the success recorded.

IGP also expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far in the war against banditry and other crimes across Nigeria.

The IGP gave assurance that the war against banditry would be won soon and sought the support of Nigerians for the police and other security agencies.
