Porto Vs Roma UCL 06 March Preview

Porto will be looking to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League when they welcome Roma to Portugal after falling to a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture.

Porto

Had the Portuguese giants entered this second leg trailing 2-0, they would have had a mountain to climb but an away goal would give them an advantage coming into this encounter.

Prior to that loss, Porto have been unbeaten in their four previous matches against Roma. But worringly for Porto, they are now winless in six Champions League knockout matches.

Infact, they were mauled 5-0 by Liverpool in the same round of the 2017/18 season and have failed to progress to the last eight of the competition since the 2014/2015 campaign.

Porto will be coming into this game off the back of a physically demanding match against Benfica where they lost 2-1 but will notwithstanding be willing to give their home fans a solid reason to cheer through the night.

Roma

Roma who made the headlines last season for taking out Barcelona, thanks to an infamous 3-0 win over the Blaugranas at the Stadio Olympico couldn’t replicate such feat in the first leg, even more significantly failing to record a clean sheet to their last-16 counterparts this term.

Recall, that the Giallorossi lost three of their away games in last season’s knockout stages and had a good home run to thank for going as far as the semi-finals.

Indeed, they also lost two of their three away fixtures in the group stages earlier this season and might be at a slight disadvantage coming into this game considering that they won on home soil via only a single goal.
