United 1-0 Inter – Solskjaer Compares Greenwood To Giggs

Mason Greenwood scored the only goal of the encounter as Manchester United edged out Inter Milan from the International Champions Cup.

His contribution to the game has earned him praise from Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who compared him to Manchester United legend, Ryan Giggs.

He is tipped to be the next star at Old Trafford and has already experienced playing at senior level.

Consequently, Greenwood, a product of the Red Devil’s famed academy has been ruled out of being loaned out according to Solskjaer.

The 17 year old is currently with the Manchester United squad who are currently a part of the pre-season International Champions Cup.

His performance coming off the back of a wonderful display against Leeds United has earned him plaudits from both inside and outside of Old Trafford.

Solskjaer said this of an exciting prospect he hopes to be a part of the 2019/20 campaign

“The kid’s only 17 and he’s learning every day training with these boys.

“He’s been with us the last few months, he’s grown in confidence, he’s grown in stature and, as I said before, when you’ve got players who perform it’s difficult to keep them out.

“But we’ve got to keep our feet on the ground with him, he’s only 17, there’ll be ups and downs but he’s enjoying his football.

“Mason’s never been on my mind to send out on loan, he’s one we have to keep at our place, keep him and play him when we feel it’s good for him and at the moment he’s fine.

“He reminds me a little bit about the Giggsy story, you can’t really send him on loan and for me he’s ready to be in this squad.”

Greenword isn’t the only emerging talent in United’s squad with summer signings Daniel James and Wan Bissaka, both 21 years of age also putting up important numbers in their preseason games.
