Writer, Sugabelly Calls Pete Edochie “A Really Bad Actor” And Nigerians Aren’t Having It
Nigerian writer, Sugabelly seems to be taking swipes at Nollywood lately as she criticised Pete Edochie a day after saying Genevieve’s movie Lionheart isn’t good enough for Oscars.
According to her, Pete Edochie ‘is a really bad actor’, she wrote that he isn’t versatile enough as “he’s been playing the same role his entire life.”
She added;
“Acting isn’t quoting proverbs.
“But Nigerians live and die by seniority so the older he gets, the less anybody is able to point this glaring elephant in the room out.”
Yesterday, Sugabelly tweeted that even if Lionheart wasn’t disqualified from the Oscars, it isn’t good enough to compete with other movies.
Many have reacted to her opinion about Pete Edochie. See some reactions below;
I have seen Pete Edochie act the rich boss man, the ritualist rich man, the company CEO, the Igwe, the village herbalist, the fetish uncle, the cult leader, and I don't even watch a lot of movies.
So what do you mean the same role?
Really bad actor?
Did you process this? https://t.co/7Tq1Cv4bf7— Mayowa (@Mayoveli) November 6, 2019
Is Jackie Chan a bad actor coz he’s stereotyped?? Stereotypes is not bad for acting. I can be really good at this role and prosper in it . Pleas let’s stop putting these actors against themselves.
Olu Jacobs is a fantastic actor so is Pete Edochie and Jibola Dabo https://t.co/KMdqGlONxB— The Priye Diri (@KingPriyeDiri_) November 6, 2019

Pete Edochie is truly a bad actor actually. What we want is to see him among the Merry Men, play Sunday Dagboru, get featured in John Wick 4 and act as a grandson to Olu Jacobs in a movie. Is that too much to ask for?
