Banky W isn’t the first Nollywood act to seek a stake in the Nigerian legislative. Most notable of such Nollywood actors who have gone into politics recently is Desmond Elliot.

Just two years ago, Desmond Elliot, the representative of the All Progressive Congress (APC) defeated his counterpart, Bayo Smith, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party to represent the Surulere constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The silverscreen hunk Elliot celebrating his victory organized a beer shower for his supporters briefly after popping champagne.

Elliot prior to coming into politics claimed that he was only contributing to the Nigerian economy just like he did as an actor and that it was merely another chance to represent Nigeria.
